The Gold Standard

Then the going rate, currently $300 a year.
No build fee. No setup fee.

The part nobody plans for

Facebook can switch your page off on a Tuesday.

One morning you go to post and it’s gone. No warning, no reason that makes sense, and nobody to call — Facebook doesn’t have a phone number. You fill out a form, and a computer decides.

Your reviews, your followers, eight years of photos: all of it lived on their website, not yours. None of it comes with you.

When I build your website, nobody can switch it off.

Everything you built, on somebody else’s terms

What The Gold Standard covers

All of it. One line on one bill.

No setup fee, no build fee, no hosting invoice from somebody else, no renewal notice you have to remember. If it’s on this list, it’s handled.

  • 01A website designed around your businessYour services, your hours, your photos, your words — not a template with your logo dropped in.
  • 02Front Desk, answering for youEvery enquiry texts you, emails you, and replies to the customer in seconds — before you’ve put the phone down.
  • 03Your domain, moved over and renewed for youStill registered to your business. It just lives where I can manage and monitor it.
  • 04Hosting, with HTTPS and the padlockFast, and it doesn’t go down. No second company to pay, and no browser warning a customer away from you.
  • 05Backups, every nightKept off-site, so a bad day is an inconvenience instead of a rebuild.
  • 06Security patches and uptime monitoringI find out it’s down before you do. That’s the twenty years.
  • 07A draft to review, and one round of changesYou see it on a private link and tell me what to fix before it goes live.
  • 08A phone number that reaches the guy who built itNot a ticket queue, not a chatbot, not a help-centre article.

Quick changes are free. Bigger ones are quoted before I start. A phone number, your hours, a price, a small wording fix — send it over and I take care of it, no charge. New photos, a new section, an added page, ongoing work — tell me what you want and I’ll tell you the number first. You’ll never get an invoice you didn’t agree to.

Jon, owner of Pittsburgh IT

Jon — owner, and the whole company

Straight talk

It’s this cheap because I want the work, not because I’m new at it.

I’m Jon. I’ve run Pittsburgh IT since 2020, and I spent about fifteen years before that fixing and running technology for other people — twenty years in the field all told. Servers, networks, the machine in the back office nobody can reboot. The stuff that has to keep working.

Websites are the newer end of what I do, and I’m deliberately building that side fast. What I don’t have yet is a wall of local businesses I’ve built for. That’s the only thing missing, and it isn’t something I can buy.

So I priced it at what it actually costs me to run, and I do the building because I want your business on that wall. What I’d like back is an honest Google and Facebook review once it’s live, and your OK to show your site as an example of my work. That’s the whole trade. Your first year is $25 — that’s my actual cost, and I cover the labor. After that it renews at the going rate, currently $300 a year. If the site’s no good, say so in the review — I’d rather know.

The other half of the answer is less interesting: I own every piece of this. No agency, no reseller, no middleman marking it up on the way to you. Twenty years of running other people’s technology is exactly why this price works.

How it goes

Four steps. Three of them are mine.

STEP 01 — YOURS

You fill out one sheet

What you do, who you do it for, your hours and your phone number. Ten minutes, once, and that’s your part done.

STEP 02 — MINE

I build the draft

Designed around your business from what you gave me. I’ll only come back if something’s missing.

STEP 03 — MINE

You review the draft

A private link, and one round of changes. Tell me what’s wrong and I fix it before anything goes live.

STEP 04 — MINE

It goes live, and stays that way

Hosting, backups, patches, monitoring. It stops being something you think about.

The last one is the product. Everything else is just getting there.

Included in every site

Front Desk

Every lead texted and emailed to you within seconds, answered automatically so the customer hears back before they call the next guy, and saved to a dashboard that’s yours. I built it myself — it only runs on sites I build and host.

Straight answers

The questions I actually get.

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one, but there is a shape to it — the plan is called The Gold Standard and it’s one page, done properly. If your business needs ten pages, that’s a custom build and a different number. It’s $25 for your first year, then the going rate (currently $300 a year), with no setup fee. If you ever leave there’s a one-time $100 offboarding fee, and that is the only other charge you can’t opt out of. The site files stay mine — you’re paying me to build it, host it and run it, not to buy them. If you ever want to buy them outright, ask and I’ll quote you. That’s the whole agreement, and you can read it here before you spend anything.

Is it really $25 for the whole first year? No setup fee?

$25 for your first year, plus sales tax. After that it renews automatically at the then-current rate — $300 a year today — on the card you signed up with, and you can cancel any time before it renews. If the rate ever changes, you hear from me at least 30 days before your renewal. No build fee, no setup fee, no hosting invoice from anybody else — and no separate domain renewal, which is the one everybody forgets to budget for.

Is it a template?

No. I build it around what your business actually does — your services, your hours, your photos, your words. You don’t pick a design out of a catalogue, and no two of these look alike.

How long does it take?

Most go live the same day you send the sheet back. The only thing that slows it down is waiting on photos, and if you don’t have any, I work with what you’ve got.

What if I don’t like it?

You get a draft on a private link and one round of changes. Tell me what’s wrong and I fix it. Nothing goes live until you’ve said yes to it.

I already have a Facebook page. Isn’t that enough?

It’s a good thing to have, and it isn’t yours. Facebook can restrict or remove a page without warning, the reviews and followers don’t come with you, and plenty of your customers won’t look there. A website is the one place online that can’t be taken from you.

Do I have to move my domain?

Yes, and it’s part of what you’re paying for. I can’t watch a site, renew it, or fix it at two in the morning if the domain sits in an account I can’t reach. It stays registered to your business, it stays yours, and it comes with you if you ever leave — it just lives where I can actually do the job. The renewal stops being something you have to remember.

Will moving the domain break my email?

No. Your mail settings move across untouched and I check them before and after, so nothing stops arriving. This is the part cheap migrations get wrong, and it’s exactly the kind of thing twenty years in IT is for. If you’re on a Gmail or Yahoo address and want a real one at your own domain, that’s a separate add-on.

What happens when I need something changed?

Email me or call me. I’ll tell you the number before I start, so you always know what it costs first. Nothing gets billed that you didn’t agree to.

What if the site goes down?

I find out before you do. Uptime monitoring runs around the clock and the alert comes to me, not to you. That’s the part twenty years in IT is actually for.
